At the end of last year, we said goodbye to our first home, Mill Cottage.
We got the keys back in March 2020 and started the process of a full renovation. Let’s take a look back…

The Kitchen
I’d say our kitchen was definitely my favourite transformation.
After completely stripping the cottage back to the bare bones, we began designing the new layout. We removed a party wall, restored the chimney breast and built our own kitchen island and corner bench…

We wanted a bold, statement kitchen cupboards, but couldn’t quite afford the price tag that came with them. We made the decision to create a budget version of this look ourselves by painting an IKEA kitchen.

The Living Room
Our pink and green living room!
The first thing I bought for our living room was the gorgeous poppy field rug from French Connection. This was a great starting point for our colour scheme, and I chose lots of pink and mint coloured accessories based on this rug.

As well as adding lots of colour, we installed dado rails, fitted new flooring, built bespoke alcove shelving and created our rattan sideboard.

The Master Bedroom
Like the rest of the cottage, our master bedroom was in need of much love and care.
We started by taking the walls back to brick, before re-boarding and plastering. We wanted to keep as many original features as possible, and so restored the original floorboards, as well as the fireplace.

Our funky wallpaper was the starting point for our colour scheme, and so I styled the room with plenty of pink and mint green accessories including cushions, my cute shell candle and Roberts radio.

The Bathroom
I definitely miss our bathroom!
After a rewire and replaster, we tiled the walls and floors. We went for the fabulous Devonstone patterned floor tiles for a feature, paired with long wall tiles with a rippled, gloss finish.
We ripped out the bath and instead opted for a big walk-in shower, alongside a gorgeous vanity unit and counter top basin…

The Spare Bedroom
With our second bedroom acting as both a home office and spare bedroom, we wanted to add lots of fun and colour pops… queue the much-loved vintage Disney prints!

And there we have it! It was definitely emotional leaving our little cottage that we’ve made our own, but we’re also ready for the next chapter.
Our new home has already been renovated so it’s not going to be a big job like our first home, but we can’t wait to put our stamp on it!
