We wanted to add some character to our IKEA Hemnes bedside tables, and came across a fabulous hack by @halfpaintedhouse over on Instagram.
By adding a scallop trim, paint and new handles, we completely transformed these affordable bedside tables! Here’s all the details…

You will need:
- IKEA Hemnes bedside tables
- Scallop trim
- Adhesive
- Caulk
- Paint
- Handles
Tools:
- Measuring tape
- Saw
- Paint brushes & mini rollers

Scallop Trim
Just like @halfpaintedhouse, we bought the medium scallop trim from Nook. You’ll only need one piece for two Hemnes bedside tables, and you’ll find the scallops fit perfectly!
We measured the space, and cut down the trim into the two required sizes (there will be a small piece left over too).

We then used adhesive to attach the scallop trims to the tables.

Prime
Once caulked, we primed the wardrobes with Zinsser B-I-N primer. We’ve used this primer previously when we painted our IKEA kitchen, and created our DIY Built-in Wardrobe Hack. It’s a must-have when painting on glossy surfaces!

Paint
We then painted the bedside tables in Lick Pink 12 {pr product} in eggshell finish for a lovely colour pop!

Handles
To finish them off, we switched up the handles with these affordable brass round knobs which make all the difference!

And here we have it… our pink scallop bedside tables!
What do you guys think? Would you give it a go?
